About Me

Juan Lopez Espantaleon began taking photographs at the age of twelve, using a Kodak Instamatic 25. This early curiosity with the medium grew into a lifetime love of storytelling through the lens.

Raised in Madrid, he studied at the International Center of Photography and Film, where he learned from some of Europe's most renowned photographers and artists, building a solid foundation of technical proficiency and artistic vision.

In 2006, Juan moved to New York. He earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Long Island University, where he deepened his understanding of photography as both an art form and a means of personal expression.

As an active artist, his work encompasses photography, video, and installation art, focusing onidentity, social narrative, abstraction and experimental techniques.
